Top 10 tips to leave your competitors in the dust!
- Bring design onto the front-burner. Great design is the gateway to great customer response.
- Make at least 3 consumer connections a week. The only way to find out what consumers are thinking is to talk to them and listen to what they have to say. They won’t say these things to you on visit one - so do repeats.
- Find three businesses you admire in your own category and study how they form emotional relationships with their consumers.
- Reward Loyalty. Make some small, spontaneous gestures to folk who have stood by you. Do it tomorrow.
- Lead with your senses. Approach everything you do with all five senses on high alert. If it doesn’t cuddle up to at least two or three of your senses, ask why not.
- For every decision you make, ask who benefits? Is it the consumer? If not, focus on your decision for another 10 concentrated minutes and work out a way to change it.
- Give your brains a rest. There is nothing wrong with thinking but thinking demands action to make any sense. You can’t think your way into relationships, insights, great ideas. You have got to create them, have them, DO them. Love them.
- Kick the information addiction. Remember that reason and information only produce conclusions, not action. That’s where you need to open up to emotion.
- Go to the edge. Everyone at the centre thinks the same way. That’s why they ended up there in the first place. The edge is unsettled and risky. Perfect to shake up connections and formulas and come up with new ideas.
- Be an Inspirational Consumer yourself. Get into an emotional relationship with a brand or product you love. See what happens from the other side.
